YOGA RETREAT IN A FRENCH CHATEAU WITH DIANE MAGNETTE & JENNIFER WINTHER
SEPTEMBER 19TH - SEPTEMBER 26TH
I am so happy to hear that you are interested in joining us on this fabulous trip to France. This yoga retreat includes E V E R Y T H I N G you'd want for an incredibly indulgent, invigorating, and rejuvenating week-long adventure in the French countryside.
Our home for the week is a fully-renovated, stunningly beautiful, 400-year-old castle. We have a professionally-trained French chef to look after us, as well as our own, private yoga studio. Relax in the grand salon, or by the beautiful pool, play around outside on the yoga deck, or take a daytime walk along miles of marked trails without even leaving the estate.
But of course, we'll head offsite to explore the area, too. Scroll down for highlights of activities that we've curated to experience the history, culture, and stunning scenery of the Dordogne region together.
THIS SEVEN DAYS RETREAT INCLUDES:
Castle Bardouly is a beautifully renovated residence and park. Relax in living spaces that range from grand and gracious to informal and cozy. Rest in indulgent comfort in one of the unique and stunning bedrooms, each with its own private bath or shower room. You choose between two types of bookings: SHARED ROOM (two beds) priced per person or PRIVATE ROOM (one king bed) priced the same for double or single occupancy.
EXPANSIVE ESTATE GROUNDS
Breathe in the fresh air deeply as you explore this meticulously maintained estate. Enjoy the gorgeous swimming pool or challenge a friend to a game of tennis, croquet, pétanque, or badminton on the estate's courts or front lawn. Bring your book and journal to spend some time among the fruit trees or in the zen garden, or rent a bicycle to explore a little further off the estate along country lanes and bike paths.
FARM-TO-TABLE FRENCH CUISINE
Three meals per day, prepared by Château de Bardouly’s professionally-trained chef, are included. She will gladly accommodate any of our food restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free, or indulge us in all the tastes of the region. We'll even get to enjoy her freshly-prepared picnic lunches on our day trips around the countryside.
DAILY YOGA AND MEDITATION WITH JENNIFER WINTHER AND DIANE MAGNETTE
Nothing grounds a traveler like yoga. Each day, you will be guided by knowledgeable and caring yoga teachers through invigorating, fun, and rejuvenating yoga sessions. We'll mix it up with flow, yin, meditation, and special yoga workshops to help you relax and connect. Our beautiful chateau houses both an indoor, private studio and an outdoor yoga deck, so get excited to soak it allllll in!
GUIDED CANOEING TOUR
We're heading offsite for a day of canoeing along the Dordogne River. Our guide, whose family has been in the business for over 100 years, will show us all the secret river spots and best views of the villages and castle along the river. We'll hop out here and there to explore and to enjoy a picnic lunch together.
Château de Bardouly is set on 100 acres of a lush, green estate and protected rare bird sanctuary. Walk off that jet lag with a woodland hike or stroll through the many, marked trails within and around the estate.
VISIT CASTLES AND GARDENS
An icon of art and social activism, ex-pat Josephine Baker poured her heart and fortune into renovating a medieval castle overlooking the Dordogne River. We've arranged a full-day tour to explore this and other regional treasures, including the beautiful Marqueyssac Gardens.
GRAPE STOMPING AND WINE TASTING
Dordogne offers some of the best of French wine, and we chose our retreat dates specifically to experience a bit of the harvest season. In addition to a private wine tasting at home, we're heading out together to a local winery for grape-stomping and wine-tasting fun!
VISITS TO LOCAL VILLAGES AND MARKETS
There's really nothing like a bit of time hanging out at a cafe to soak in the local vibe, right? Absorb a bit of French culture and maybe pick up a few gifts for your friends back home (or for yourself). We've scheduled time for that, too.
All local transportation is included on this retreat. A shuttle will be waiting at Bergerac Train Station to transport us to the castle on the first day and back to the station at the end of the week. All local transportation for group activities is also included.
